Miraculous Reversal

Our story is a bit different than the surgical reversals you may have read about on this site. It is a true testimony to God’s healing power, His mercy and forgiveness, and His desire for life.
We were 27 years old when we had our third child. Our flawed human nature told us at the time that having more children would make it difficult to raise our children properly. We opted for a vasectomy. As time progressed, we grew in our faith and God softened our hearts. We realized what a terrible mistake we had made. The guilt and the need for forgiveness became overwhelming for my wife and me.

One day as my wife was traveling in the car listening to Catholic radio, a man was giving his personal testimony about a vasectomy reversal. My wife pulled the car over to listen, but was struck by the thought that she didn’t know how she could ever ask me to do that. At that moment, my wife heard a very clear inspiration that God can heal all things. One morning, she left a reversal testimonial on the table for me to read before work. The article had a deep spiritual and emotional impact on me. I began praying that God would somehow right this wrong. We were foster parents and so I prayed that God would send us more foster children since we were not able to have children of our own.

In May of that year, unbeknownst to me, my wife prayed over me, asking God for healing. Her fervent prayer was a plea for forgiveness for what we had done. In July, my wife took a home pregnancy test that confirmed she was expecting our fourth child! She was 8 weeks pregnant. God had indeed miraculously healed me after 8 years. I later informed my urologist who told me that in his 25 years of practice, he had never known of a spontaneous reversal. I told him that it was Divine intervention and he agreed.

We are convinced that God desires life and we should use all means at our disposal to cooperate with Him-including prayer and surgery. We share this story with you as a witness to our Lord’s plan for marriage and the procreation of children and also to His endless mercy. My wife is now expecting our 6th child.
